Saving Mama's Spine
Hello! I am Eliza, and I'm seeking for your help in raising funding for my mom's spinal surgery.
My mom, known by friends and family as Tita Beth, has a big heart for her family and friends. She may not say it often verbally, but you can taste it through her cooking. Her love of cooking sent me and my brother to school -- putting up a canteen for 5 years to make ends meet. She has gone through a rigorous time during this period - she had to wake up as early as 5am to go to the market, and spend the morning til noon cooking for the business. However, as she aged, this took a toll on her health.
Early this year, she started to feel a consistent sharp pain from her lower back, travelling down to her right leg. We've sought the help of 2 doctors, have undergone physical therapy for 2 months accompanied by pain relief medication, but to no avail. Her condition worsened. It became more difficult for her to walk, stand, or even sit for long periods of time. As time went on, she's been having difficulty coping up with the pain daily.
As we sought further help from other doctors and more lab tests, Mama was diagnosed with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis - which is a condition of the narrowing of the spaces within the spine, which puts pressure on the nerves that travel through the spine. X-rays have also shown that apart from the narrowing spaces from her lower spine, two of the discs from her upper spine are starting to degenerate too. Any further delay of the surgery might result to a complete paralysis of her lower body. She wont be able to walk anymore if her illness will progress.
Her surgery is scheduled on August 30. Me and my family, together with friends and community have been ramping up all our efforts to raise Php 1.6 Million. We're beyond grateful for all the help of our friends and family in raising the funds, however, we're still short of Php 500k (USD$10, 000) to close this gap.
We're knocking at your kind hearts for any blessing you might be able to share, and any form of help are more than welcome. Your help will help us extend her life.
Thank you and may our good Lord bless you and reward you.
