Sometimes in life, one encounters those “lost causes” that are worthy of a second look. Such is the case of a little red mare named Lyric
Lyric has lived most of her life unhandled and in isolation due to extreme and unpredictable aggression Unfortunately, her volatility has made it impossible to maintain practitioners willing to work with her. Her feet and routine veterinary care suffer as a result.
One very special and gifted young horse woman saw the potential in this little red horse and somehow found a way to work around the dangerous behavior. Unfortunately, Lyric’s behavior requires a level of isolation and management that simply is not sustainable.
Enter modern science and the recent diagnosis of a grapefruit sized tumor on Lyric's ovary. The veterinarians feel this mare's behavior will be completely reversed with removal of the offending tumor and affected ovary. This condition is a well known syndrome with well documented positive outcomes.
Lindsey and her young family relocated to Connecticut from Kansas mid September and the move has left them with limited financial reserves. The veterinary bills are estimated at $4000.00 and the only other option is euthanasia.
We are hoping our friends in the horse community can help this mare on her path to wellness so that she can live a safe and fulfilled life in her forever home.
Please donate what you can and share this campaign with horse/animal lovers you know. The surgeon assures a “100% different horse” post surgery. It would truly be a shame to see life lost because finances weren’t available. If we are able to raise the necessary funds I promise to update anyone interested on Lyric’s progress.
