Hello Everyone,

I am setting up this fund raiser for my brother Ryan Ocoma. He is currently in the Philippines fighting for his life due to Covid19. He is only 39 years old with a young family.

It has been the toughest 2 weeks for him and his family who also got infected by the virus. While his wife and daughter was able to recover within a week, his condition has deteriorated rapidly. Within a few days he struggled to breathe and required oxygen support.

Due to the lack of hospital beds in the country, they were not able to get immediate treatment. After several attempts at emergency rooms and a makeshift hospital at home, he finally got admitted on Friday, 8th of Oct. By then, he has already developed double pneumonia and his blood test showed elevated liver enzymes. His lungs and liver were inflamed and in critical condition. Doctors advised they would have put him in ICU if only there was an available bed.

Since then he had to undergo several sessions of hemoperfusion to decrease the level of inflammation of his organs and to potentially improve oxygen saturation. While his condition has improved, we were advised today that he is not yet out of the woods. He still requires high flow oxygen and at least 3 more rounds of hemoperfusion.

Unfortunately, these treatments do not come free in the Philippines. In fact, every session of hemoperfusion needs to be paid beforehand. So I am here today to hopefully get some support from the community. His family is already in a lot of physical and emotional stress and I am asking help to at least alleviate the financial burden this is imposing on them.
