my name is ebonnie , tragically on the 19th of October my father became very unwell he tested positive for covid-19 after collapsing at home , he was taken too frimley park hospital where he went down hill very quickly he was put in an induced coma within 24 hours of arriving in frimley after a week of deterioration and significant damage to his lungs he was transferred to st Thomas and guys hospital in London to go on an ecmo machine , (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) with only 5 of these machines available in the uk my dad was very lucky to get on one ,
he’s suffered several major complications since having COVID sadly on Friday the 29th of October scans revealed my dad had a stroke , had blood clots in his stomach brain and lungs , and blood thinners weren't working the doctors then realised his blood platelets levels were dangerously low due to an allergy to heparin (blood thinning medication for the blood clots) he’s since had a collapsed lung developed pneumonia sepsis and a chest infection  which took a lot of antibiotics before finding one that suited him he’s also been bleeding out from his ecmo line and Iv lines my dads condition is still very critical we are unsure the full extent of the stroke as they are unable to withdraw his sedation on attempts to do so he’s had a decline in his condition so for now it’s best for him to stay in a medically induced coma if my dad survives this his life will be very very different , he will need adapted living long if not permanent home oxygen and will find every day life very hard , his recovery will take years , and he will never fully recover , the biggest sadness in all this is my dad has always been a very hard working family man starting working as soon as he was old enough to ,to support his family he’s been an amazing father to us  8 children!  and has worked hard for his children last year he moved in to a high cost rental house and began a lot of projects to the house to make it home something he loved doing , he loved doing his home up and making it perfect for him and his family , due to having 3 dependant children at home my dad was the only one working which means his wife and children have been struck hard emotionally and financially struggling to keep up payments on rent and bills and struggled to get adequate help , we are all broken beyond words with out our dad due to him being on life support and having COVID we aren’t allowed to be with him , although we are unsure of dads survival and recovery we are hopeful he will and want to be able to make it possible for him to get home one day , we also want to give 25% of what’s raised to st guys and Thomas hospital they have refused to give up on my dad ,We will be forever grateful to them they’ve made sure my dad is never alone , they’ve given him the best care , my dads so young and so fit and healthy we’d never of thought something like this would of happened to our dad or affected him so severely , the last thing we wanted to do is ask for help , but the situation we are in nothing could of prepared us for.

Thank-you for reading
and thank-you from the bottom of our hearts to any one who can help ,our dad is very loved and we just want to be able to save him .
