Saving Flapjack the Ferocious

Hello, our names are Stefi and Keefer, and we're writing in hopes to find some help to support our beloved pooch, Flapjack.

He is a one and a half year old beagle, with a love for long walks, begging for treats and cuddling. If you've ever been lucky enough to meet this guy, you've seen that he is full of energy and loves everyone that he meets- humans and animals alike. He has been beyond a blessing to us, being so much more to us than  "just a dog", completing our little family of three.

Within the last week, Flapjack has changed drastically from the little puppy we're used to.  His movements have slowed and he hardly has the energy to stand on his own. We've visited the vet and received very little as far as answers go.  At first, they thought it was leptosprosis (which is a bacteria contracted from drinking stagnent water) which was leading to acute renal failure (failure of the kidneys). He stayed overnight at the vet where they administered IV fluids to flush out whatever toxins were in his body. Things were looking better, and soon we were sent home with antibiotics and fluids to give to him at home, along with a kidney-gentle food. Day by day, he started getting more and more lethargic. By the time his follow-up appointment had arrived, he was experiencing tremors on top of the symptoms he already had. His body was not responding to the antibiotics, but the fluids have helped to stabilize him and keep his creatinine levels at a high, but manageable rate.

During his check up, the doctors have deduced that this could be congenital, having been the runt of the litter, it could be something that has been present all along and we're just now seeing signs. Unfortunately, since there hasn't been a definite diagnosis on what's changed his behavior and weight loss, there are still quite a lot of tests and labs to go through to determine how we can save his life. But we're no where near wanting to give up on our baby, and that's where we need your help.

Earlier this year, my husband and I experienced a  miscarriage, which left us devestated and struggling financially. We aren't able to continue treatment and further testing as we'd spent almost all of our savings on the unexpected medical bills, and now every cent we have is going towards saving our only furbaby. We need to raise enough money to get a second opinion, and to find a clear diagnosis. This would include a kidney biopsy, more ultrasounds, bloodwork and if necessary, the means to help us continue his life with a special diet and fluids twice a day for the rest of his life (which we are praying is long and happy).

I know that times are hard for everyone, but every single PENNY would help us tremendously. Even if it's not something that you could do, please pray and send happy, healing thoughts to Flapjack. It would mean the world to us if you would help us save our little boy.

Thank you all so much!
