Help Us Care for Ella - A Senior Rescue Dog With Cancer
I rescued Ella while working at a family violence service for women and children. My boss at the time, Jo, asked me to collect her from crisis accommodation so the young girl who loved her could focus on her own trauma recovery.
The girl brought Ella out to me on a ribbon.
She asked me to promise Ella a safe, beautiful life.
We kept that promise.
Ella has lived in foster care, helped make homes feel safe for foster children, cared for abandoned kittens and puppies, and loved everyone she met. She is a gentle, joyful Labrador — a big foodie, an adventurer, and a dog who brings comfort wherever she goes.
Now Ella is a senior and has been diagnosed with cancer. A tumour is growing on her shoulder, and her veterinary costs are escalating quickly. She has a biopsy booked for 30 December, with further tests and treatment to follow.
Ella’s forever person, Kylie, is a social worker and foster carer. They love camping, caring for children together, and long cuddles. Ella is Kylie’s family. Kylie wants to give Ella whatever time she has left without pain, but the cost of care is becoming overwhelming.
Ella is still full of life. She still plays, throws her toys around, and wants to be here.
We are asking for help to cover Ella’s veterinary care so her remaining time can be about comfort and love — not financial stress.
Any donation or share truly helps.
Thank you for helping us keep our promise.
