The Crisis
The Kitchens & Baths company who owns the building in which Dreamflight Theatrical Gymnastics is located has sold their building.
When Dreamflight learned of this, we immediately met with the new owner - ShirtCo (a T-Shirt company) - to explain that it would be impossible for us to uproot and relocate before the end of the year. Instead of giving us the time, they have given us until the end of July. They have threatened to change the locks and take our equipment if we are not out by then.
Keep in mind, we occupy the back quarter of the building, a small section, and they could easily choose to let us stay for the time required. For them, it would be an inconvenience; for us, kicking us out in less than 60 days could be the end of Dreamflight.
About Dreamflight
One-of-a-kind, Dreamflight Theatrical Gymnastics offers Gymnastics, Dance, Acting, Writing and more through an interdisciplinary program.
As a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, Dreamflight serves 150+ families (children from 2-18, including, but not limited to, Preschool, Recreation, Competitive Team, and those with Special Needs) who cannot afford any other means of athletic or creative outlets. We are 25-60% cheaper than any other gymnastics facility in the area, and fundraise through Kid's Nights and Recitals to keep additional fees that others charge off the parents' plates.
To relocate an entire competitive level Gymnastics facility with an Actor's Stage and a Dance Studio, we need to raise $50,000. Without given the time to save up the funds over 6 months or a year, we need to raise that money in a single month to save this program and this dream for all the kids that have nowhere else to go.
Why do we need so much?
- Hiring movers to uproot and move the equipment (things like uneven bars, a 40x40 spring floor, 500-pound balance beams, and more)
- First and last month's rent in a new facility.
- The cost of building everything anew, up and out, in a new location.
- The cost of a storage unit, if necessary.
Have a building in mind?
If you know anyone who works in the industry, the following are the requirements of any building we find for relocation:
- 9,000+ Square Feet
- No more than $8/sq/yr (preferably less)
- Costs no more than $6,500/month
- At least 41 ft between any support columns (to fit the 40'x40' spring floor)
- 24' Ceiling Clearance (20' bare minimum)
Ultimately, if you've read this far, please share and share some more, because word of mouth is the only way we're to find enough small donors, or even a few angel donors out there. Anything you or your friends, family, or connections otherwhere can do is greatly appreciated.
In Conclusion
By donating, you'll be saving the tears that will be shed from 150+ children in this community, and be a part of a truly unique academy that serves everyone.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
