Saving Diego Prats
Donation protected

On July 31st we took a family vacation to California. On Thursday we went to Disneyland and by Saturday we had to rush Diego into the ER. His oxygen levels were extremely low. They found his lungs were hardly working as they were full of pneumonia. Because of the lack of airway his body provides and the steadily increasing amount of CO2 his body was retaining, Diego had to be put on a ventilator pushing oxygen into his little body. He was shortly there after flown to UCLA and brought to the pediatric ICU where he could have a fighting chance. There he has been put on an ECMO machine giving his lungs a bit of a break and providing oxygen straight into his blood stream. This machine saves lives but also comes with many complications. He has been medically paralyzed as they can not have him dislodging the machines keeping him alive. They attempted to lift the paralyzation a bit to see if his body would take over and he took 2 breaths over the ventilator (which again shows his strength) however, they had to increase it again as Diego woke up shaking his head “no”.
This is any parents WORST nightmare. We are praying for a miracle and full recovery but even then we are talking MONTHS in the ICU.
My brother and sister have been by his bedside this entire time. They will not leave their boy.
We flew home (Illinois) on Tuesday leaving them with the cash we had on us and brought Diego’s brother Logan with us.
Help me help them to not have to leave their son. Alicia is a RN back in Illinois but obviously can’t work when her baby is in California in the ICU.
California is expensive. Hotels are expensive. Food is expensive. Medical bills are going to be out of this world.
HELP ME NOT LET FINANCES BE THEIR CONCERN WHILE THEIR SON IS FIGHTING TO SURVIVE!!
God can move mountains and we can help!
Thank you for your prayers and support during this horrendous time.
Thank you, THE BEANS
