Derek's Story:
Most of you will know Derek as the friendly face at the Cameron's car park in Ballymena.
Over the years, so many kind people have looked out for him and made sure he was fed and cared for.
Sadly, after collapsing in the car park, Derek’s health has taken a critical turn, and he is now fighting for his life.
Derek has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition that has been present and sadly overlooked for some time.
After collapsing yesterday, he was rushed for emergency care. Thanks to the incredible team at Yvonne’s Independent Cat Rescue and the staff at Clare Vet Group, who were already on standby, Derek received immediate life-saving treatment.
Why we need your help:
Derek’s condition is critical, and his medical needs are extensive. If he pulls through this crisis, his life will need to change completely.
He will require:
- Ongoing emergency veterinary treatment
- A guaranteed safe, warm indoor home with close monitoring of his health condition (he can no longer live outside).
- Regular vet check-ups and long-term medication.
- Plenty of love, care, and attention.
Where your donations will go
- Derek’s medical bills: 100% of initial donations will go directly toward his emergency care, diagnostics, and stabilisation, directly paid to Clare Vet Group.
- Helping other cats in need: If we raise more than Derek requires, any remaining funds will be donated to Clare Vet Group to support the care of other sanctuary cats needing urgent medical treatment.
Derek has spent years bringing smiles to people in that car park. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.
No donation is too small, every contribution helps give this gentle boy the chance at the safe, indoor life he deserves.
