Saving Dali: A Good Boy
Donation protected
Dali, originally called "Canelo", came into my world in 2018 by luck and good faith after spending half his (then) 3 year life in a Texas shelter. I adopted him through a small dog rescue in NYC 'Waggytail Rescue', in search of a brother for my then 4 year old chihuahua mix- Devinci. The two instantly became bestfriends and Dali fit-in comfortably with the entire family.
Dali is an 8 year old, loaf of love! Docile, shy, affectionate and highly food motivated; he is the perfect furry member of our family. He loves being lazy and cuddling with his favorite human (me lol). Dali thrives on being called a good boy and receiving kisses. He lives for taking long naps under his favorite blanket. He doesn't do very well being alone, so he happily hangs out with his family that has shown him constant love and affection since the moment he came home.
We went for a routine dental cleaning for Dali October 2023, when I was given the news about the tumor mass that had grown. Sac adenocarcinoma. It was devastating for me to make the follow-up appointment at NY Hospital for Veterinary Surgery with Dr. Matthew Raske but, I was assured even though it was a chronic condition that will ultimately take his life, Dali could be helped with surgery; as the cancer had not spread to any other organs and the sac could be removed. There is a chance for Dali after all!
This year I lost employment, then invested and struggled to begin a new business & career, all while experiencing the loss of my only surviving parent; in a matter of ten month time period. Dali is a lifeline of my emotional stability and a major source of support for me through my grievances and I cannot fathom what my mental state would be if I were to lose him, too. As you could imagine, the surgery is expensive and isn't covered in by his pet insurance plan. I am left looking for a miracle.
For the first time in my life, I am asking for help from anyone who understands my plight...to help me save a family dog that is SO deserving of life. An animal who I promised a long life of belly rubs and treats, a puppy who knows nothing but love since the moment I adopted him...Please help me save Dali the Chihuahua!
