Meet Chief,

This sweet older soul, found as a stray, is sitting in a high kill shelter in Texas. Noone claimed him, noone wanted him. He is stressed, shutting down, and was soon to be euthanized.

A staff member of mine saw him on one of the many pages that come up on her feed of shelter animals in need. This one spoke to her, she could not stop thinking about him. Ready to adopt and give him however many years he has left being cared for, spoiled and loved. She paid his bail and his transport fees...

But as it turns out, Chief is heartworm positive, and will require a series of painful injections under sedation and other medications to help save his life. A treatment that takes many vet visits in a 4-6 month period.

Heartbroken over his diagnosis, but not giving up on saving this sweet boy who deserves to know unconditional love.

"Saving one dog will not change the world, but it will surely change the world for that dog."
