Saving Chance - Red List to Tripawd
Donation protected
My name is Josh Anderson, and I am raising money for Chance (formerly Petey A1642911 aka Blueberry), who was saved from euthanization at the Riverside Animal Shelter. On 11/05/2021, I drove down to Riverside to pick up Chance and to bring this beautiful pittie in need into my care, where he can finally get the medical treatment he needs.
Chance entered the shelter on 09/29/2021 and was noted as "non-weight-bearing on the right front leg. Superficial abrasive wounds were noted on the right stifle and hock, left elbow, and carpus. Radiographs show complete luxation of the right elbow with medial displacement of the distal humerus." While it's unknown what happened to him, the injuries point towards trauma and dragging.
While at the shelter, he received minimal treatment that included a splint that he had on for more than five weeks. This splint ended up forcing the elbow to heal incorrectly while leading to irritation and sores that became infected. After visiting VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center on 11/06/2021, it was determined that Chance's best course of action is for his front right limb to be amputated.
He is the sweetest, most gentle, loving, and happy pitbull, and he deserves the best! I'm honored to bring him into my care, where he's been able to play with my other rescue tripawd pups and where he'll soon become a tripawd himself. He does not put any weight on that limb and has been getting around quite well without it - amputation will be just what he needs to continue to thrive while starting his new life.
This fundraiser looks to help cover the veterinary costs for his treatment and rehabilitation. His initial exam was $213.41; the surgery estimate is between $3,137.16 to $3,921.45, the additional funds with help with his recovery process for items to keep him safe and for physical therapy as needed.

Thank you all for sharing Chance's story and for being a part of his life. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated; for those unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us. Throughout the process, I will be documenting his journey so far and the road he'll travel ahead. I will also post images of his radiographs, medical records, estimates, and more in the update section.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, and/or concerns. I will be creating an Amason Wishlist for Chance and have dedicated my Venmo account to his care @SavingChanceRescue. His procedure will take place at VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center in Sacramento, CA.
