At Concerned Citizens of the Ozarks (CCO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to protect and preserve a way of life for future generations. We work towards a balance of rural agri-friendly living with respectful tourism and development that respects the Ozarks. We are a diverse group dedicated to making a positive impact on the Ozarks through respectful conversations, advocacy, education, and community engagement.

SOAR (SAVE OUR ARKANSAS RIDGES) was created during conversations between Washington, Searcy and Carroll Counties and is an effort to draw attention to the current risks facing our Ozark ridges. The Ozarks are being targeted by industrial behemoth scale wind development at the expense of our fragile environment and rural communities. Alternative energies are important to many, but not at the cost of potential damage to our essential water aquifers and natural Ozark landscapes.

As a small grassroots nonprofit, no CCO director, officer or volunteer receives a salary. We each pay our own expenses.
