Saving Bronson's Fractured Leg

Donation protected
What was an ordinary evening of chasing the ball quickly turned into a nightmare for 18 mth old, boxer mix Bronson.  He went up for the ball, over balanced and came down on his back.  I heard an audible snap and thought he had broken his tail from the angle I was at and because the sound was so loud.  As I rushed to him, he remained curled up in a ball holding his leg tight against his body.   Something was definitely wrong.

When the vet x-rayed his leg, he had a spiral fracture with 6 bone fragments.

Bronson is a big, young, energetic guy- so really the best option was to plate his leg, requiring an ortho surgeon.   However, we had to debate if we could really take on the debt of an expensive surgery.

In the end we decided it was really the only option we could live with and went with the surgery, thankful our vet would take payments on our $2600 bill.  He also has about $900 in follow up apts due to needing to x-ray as we go, to monitor his healing.

Bronson is part of the first week of Street Dog's foray into trapping and helping get dogs off the street.  He was a two mth old puppy born out in the triangle of land between interstate 10 and an on-ramp.  When he was old enough to eat his own food, his mother started bringing him across that on-ramp, the over pass and the off ramp in to three different gas/truck stations and begging for food for both of them.

Bronson quickly found a new home, but unfortunately due to some life issues and his high energy, he was returned to us this past December, at not quite a year old. We've slowly been working on building his confidence as the first two mths of living with no human contact had left it's mark on him.  He was just reaching the stage where we felt he would do well in a forever home.

We are hoping that we can get some support in paying off his bill sooner than later.  At this point until we pay off his bill we are very limited on how much we can help loose dogs in the community as it takes money as well as time to help get these dogs off the streets safely.  Just this morning I spent $38 on batteries and a smelly treat to use as bait, plus drove an hour round trip to get to the trapping site, consuming costly gas.  This and another dog are the last two dogs we can commit to helping, until we pay off this bill.

We love to help these dogs get off the streets, especially right now in the heat of the summer, so we would be so extremely grateful for some help so we can continue to do that.  We are so grateful for all the support we have received over the last 18 mths of Street Dogs AZ. From the  bag of dog food, to the shipments of dog food, from the $5 to the $100, to the equipment such as crates, collars, leashes and even a swimming pool,  everything combined is what keeps us out there helping dogs and their owners.

We are not a 501c3 currently, but we have committed to applying to become one. This can be a lengthy process, and we cannot wait on that to pay off this bill.  So we really, really appreciate those who support us and donate to us despite our non 501c3 status at this time.
