Saving “Garbage Bin Puppies” in Spain

Hi! My name is Monica and I help foster newborn puppies in Spain that are snatched away from their mothers and thrown away in Garbage Bins… sometimes as young as a few hours old..

It is a practice that beggars belief… but a stark reality of being involved in the Dog Rescue World in Spain.

Due to lack of education surrounding the issue of neutering dogs to avoid unwanted litters and the abundance of “unfenced dogs” (ie dogs that have a home, but are allowed to wander), there are many, many unwanted litters.

Sadly, some people chose to dispose of these newborn puppies in horrific ways… one of them being placing them in a garbage bin, still alive, at a collection point.

Sometimes, the puppies are “lucky” and are found by a kind passer-by before it is too late and are taken home to find an association (all privately funded and helped by donations) to be “rescued”.

This means finding experienced bottle feeders, like myself, that have the time and energy to feed these puppies for up to 4 weeks, as often as every 2 hours, around the clock… depending on how old the pups are. Sometimes they are found with their umbilical cords still attached… heart wrenching…

And then of course… the expense of it all: Puppy Formula, protection pads, cleaning materials, vet fees and medication, emergency calls, puppy pate, puppy kibble…. and then, before rehoming, vaccinations, worming, de-fleeing, chipping…

And that is where these puppies need your help!

I currently have the 2 puppies in the photo above. We have named them Thelma and Louise.. To date, we have spent over €300 in milk and vet fees… and we are only on week 4 (of a minimum of 8 to do it right!)

With adoption donations around the €50 to €150 mark, these expenses don’t get covered - specially if there is a medical issue (and there usually is with these tiny pups… )

So…. I have time, love, energy and experience to help these puppies . But not the funds….

That’s where this Gogundme campaign kicks in!

If you wish, you will be named a sponsor of the pups and added to a whatsapp group that gets daily updates and photos of the puppies.

The first €300 we raise will go to the asociación that took these to pups under their wing (together with 3 other that are with somebody else!). The balance, I will use towards these pups for the

next few weeks. All invoices will be posted here.

I am NOT a registered charity… I am supporting different charities depending where help is needed.
