Saving Angels: Evacuate my family out of Gaza
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
i´m Lara from Germany, a familyfriend )of the Safi´s from Gaza, a family of 8 (6 children: Lina, Yaser, Amin, Sama, Hala and Mona, their mother Faten and their disabled aunt Mhasen) They are currently stuck in Gaza and we need to bring them out as soon as possible. I kindly asking you to read their Story ( written by 17 year old Lina ) and help them in any way you can. Even the smallest amount will make a difference.
Dear kind hearted strangers,
My Name is Lina Safi, a 17 year old girl from Gaza, who was supposed to start pre-medical school this very month.
But now, dreams became a luxury I can’t afford. Who dares to dream, when they have to struggle every day just to survive? Imagine me while you’re reading my story, writing this to you from a 2x2 meter tent in Khan Younus, where my 5 siblings, my mother, my disabled aunt and I have to all sleep in together.
We, the 8 souls, were full of life, ambitions, big dreams, and enormous determination. Little did we know that tents don’t fit any of those. Little did we know that the only thing the tents accept is a glimpse of hope that looks like a very opaque light that we’re squeezing our eyes to see at the end of the tunnel.

And this is why I’m writing to you now.
This war on Gaza have costed my family everything. 50 members of my family got brutally killed at once, also my best friend Raghad along with all of her family, our pet bird Joe, our warm house, our car, our source of income, and everything we ever owned. My father got injured in his back and got evacuated to Egypt for medical treatment. Leaving my 5 younger siblings, my mother, my disabled aunt and I with no one to care for us. My brother and I had to work to provide for our family. And it hits me every second. I, Lina wanted to become a heart surgeon, my brother Yaser (16 year old) wanted to become a lawyer, how did we end up selling tea and coffee to survive?

My brother Amin (a 15 year old boy who’s now diagnosed with hepatitis) wanted to become a computer engineer, Sama (12 year old) with her great choices and opinions in fashion wanted to be a model, Hala (10 year old) the most patient and poetic amongst us wanted to become an English teacher and Mona. A 5 year old only in chronological age, but in reality she has lived nothing of a child’s life. Little Mona had to survive 5 horrific wars during her short time in life. When children at her age were playing, learning, laughing, loving, and experiencing the magic of a new world, Mona had to learn how to put her self to sleep every night terrified under a roof that may fall over her little body at any given moment. She’d ask our mother “Does it hurt so much? Dying?” She was so young to understand what the bombing sounds she keeps hearing mean, yet she knew it all. Before the war, Mona was the brightest child ever. With eyes that shine every time she laughs and a heart full of love to everyone around her. She’d save her daily allowance to buy food for stray cats. Mona now after being homeless for 8 months, has lost so much of her weight, she refuses to engage in any social act, and that sparkle in her eyes went off.
We (including Mona) have seen people getting killed and children getting burned. The scenes we had to endure were beyond any imagination. No child, nay no human should live such cruel tragedy.
As the eldest sister to my siblings, and the only caregiver to my disabled aunt, it’s my responsibility to try and to drag them all to safety and I refuse to die, before trying one more time to survive.

With your help we will be able to evacuate Gaza, and start a new life elsewhere. We want nothing more than a normal life, I still tightly hang on believing in humanity and for that I will not give up hope.
Please remember, your contribution can change my family’s life forever.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity.
With gratitude,
Lina.
