Saving Andrew Bottomley - Steel Mongers United

Hi,

If you're receiving or reading this it's because you're a Steel Monger, family or friends of a Steel Monger and/or want to be a Steel Monger (even if you didn't know it yet ...).

Why?

Because despite our rough exterior, we're much like our materials - we're the most recycled and recyclable product on the planet. In other words once you are a Steel Monger, you always will be.

You're part of a society; a family; a collective group of people that ride the highs & lows of life together.

You can of course be other things - like a Lucky Husband, Proud Father and unashamed Survivor ...

Like our great mate Andrew (Botts) Bottomley ...

I say unashamed Survivor, as with many things in life, the fight never ends.

Bott's journey has been long and difficult; the condensed summary includes -

  • December 2018 prostate operation, which included removing 9 lymph nodes
  • Radiation on bone cancer on his hips, ribs, spine & 22 weeks chemo
  • Many many stays in hospital ...
  • Being given the "all clear" call in December 2020
  • 6 months later being diagnosed with bladder and lymph node cancer in the groin;
  • Also brain cancer with ~30 spots on the brain to treat.
  • Massive side effects for months and months as next treatments progress
  • A scan planned for September this year to assess progress ...

What does this now mean?

  • Botts can't work and will "simply" be focusing on his health & family for an indefinite period
  • He'll go through another round of hell, all be it with his natural good humor and attitude

What can we do?

We're Steel Mongers - as a collective, we look out for each other, our families & friends.

In this instance we're going to contribute a little (or a lot) to our mate Botts ... whatever we can spare; and we're going to spread the word across our diverse industry ... proving we care!

Thank you for your consideration and contributions - success is not an accident; success is a choice!

Lets get this done ...

Kind Regards,

Daniel.
