My name is Amelia Bare and I am 19 years old. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome(hEDS), which is a connective tissue disorder. This condition causes my joints to chronically dislocate and sublux (among many other things). EDS has no cure and no treatments that are significantly effective. I've had four failed surgeries and now the hardware from those surgeries causes even more pain during subluxations.

My left shoulder has been subluxed for more than nine months now and it has to be operated on to be put in place. While it's been out of socket, my nerve bundle (the brachial plexus) has been stretched and damaged. We FINALLY found doctors who can operate  on me but they're in D.C. The neurologist will operate on my shoulder first, then the orthopedic surgeon will operate on my shoulder next to stabilize it as much as possible. I'm not sure how successful the operations will be, but I'm very hopeful and optimistic about it.

Unfortunately, the surgeries, appointments, hotel stay, flights, transportation, food, etc. are all things we have to pay for. We don't know how much money we'll need but I thought $15,000 is a good place to start even though it'll most likely be more. 

On July 24th, my mom and I are flying to DC and will see a doctor that day. I'll see the neurologist on Monday and he'll operate on me on Wednesday. I'll see the shoulder surgeon either Monday or Tuesday to discuss what surgery will look like. This trip is in two days and we just got confirmation of the trip happening yesterday. We will be there from two weeks to four weeks.

Any amount of money you can donate will be very very greatly appreciated. This daily, excruciating pain has made my quality of life decrease dramatically and having these operations planned gives me so much hope. People have always asked how they can helped and my answer has always just been prayer. Now there is finally a VERY big way people can help and I'll be grateful for every penny.
