Saving a Sacred Space

Donation protected
Prathibha is the Hindi word for talent, gift, or light.   It can symbolize the hope and charity that many of us long for during these dark and lean months of pandemic isolation and crisis.

Our ability as communities to gather in person has been severely curtailed, and we have sought new ways to remain united and connected—new ways we may not have tried were it not for technological advances and the way this pandemic has forced us to be creative.   It has been difficult being separated from our sacred spaces of worship, yet we have managed to create sacred spaces for and with each other in our own homes and through outreach ministries.

Pastor David leads a small impoverished congregation at a rural church in Hyderabad where he offers gospel teachings, prayer, and beloved community.  His parishioners depend upon this space as a source for sacred renewal, revival, and community support.  Due to COVID-19, his community cannot afford to feed themselves adequately, let alone help keep their sacred space open.  They have no money to pay for their house of worship, nor for their pastor who has sacrificed much to keep this community supported and whole, knowing the vital imperativeness of doing so.

They are in danger of losing their space, adding much greater stress and increased vulnerability to the families and their pastor.

We have missed gathering in our sacred spaces, but we know that our space awaits us and is not in peril.  And we have access to food and monetary resources more readily than our more vulnerable and impoverished sisters and brothers in Hyderabad.

HELP US SAVE A CHURCH!

A sacred sanctuary for a vulnerable and faithful people!

Help us offer the gift of hope & charity to our neighbors in Christ.  Let us offer prathibha!

In Pastor David's community, a family of four survives an entire month on $267.00!  (For some Americans, that is one week's groceries.  For others, it is what they spend eating out each month.)  The average American spends up to $200.00 a month on non-essentials.

That money could save Pastor David's small church.

The building we are trying to save carries a debt of $11,000.00.  Since the pandemic struck and shutdowns began, no one has been working; so, no one is able to pledge money in the congregation.  They are beyond impoverished.  They are in survival mode.  And they are now faced with having to sell the property to pay off the debt, leaving them without a church.  They have managed to scrape together $1000.00 through the Prathibha Foundation Charitable Trust, but still need to raise an additional $10,000.00.

Here is how YOU can help:

If x100 people donate $100 each, we will save the church.
If x50 people donate $200 each, we will save the church.
If x20 people donate $500 each, we will save the church.

Any amount helps.  Please help us keep this Beloved Community in place in their greatest hour of need.
