The Savi Jaya Development Foundation — founded in 2010 by Janaka Loronsu Hewa — has spent over 15 years supporting more than 100 villages in Weligama, helping around 6,000 people access education, safety, and community support. Their core mission is simple but powerful: keep children in school by providing essential supplies like books, pens, water bottles, and school bags, while also helping families living in unsafe housing.
Right now, their work matters more than ever.
Sri Lanka is facing one of its worst flood disasters in years. Heavy rains linked to Cyclone Ditwah have caused deadly floods and landslides:
• 153 lives lost
• 191 people missing
• Over half a million affected
• More than 78,000 displaced across 800 relief centres
Entire communities are cut off, families have lost homes, and many children who already struggled to stay in school are now facing even greater hardship.
We will be in Sri Lanka from December 9th, meeting with Janaka to raise and direct funds where they’re needed most — supporting both urgent disaster relief and the educational needs of local children.
Every donation helps — whether it’s putting school supplies back in a child’s hands or helping a family rebuild after the floods. Even sharing this page makes a huge difference.
