Whale Shark Conservation Volunteer

Donation protected
I'm a public high school teacher in Brooklyn, NY, raising funds for the Maldives Whale Shark Research Program, I've been selected to volunteer with for a month this summer (July 17th to August 13th!).

MWSRP is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to studying whale sharks and fostering community-based conservation initiatives in the Maldives and Greater Indian Ocean.

Located off the SW coast of India, the Maldives is a country comprised of 2000 islands, which became famously known as the "disappearing islands" in 2011, when The Island President  won best documentary at the Toronto Film Festival.

These islands are also home to a year-round population of whale sharks, the LARGEST FISH IN THE SEA! The gentle giants, measuring up to 40 feet, are an integral part of our marine ecosystem and the local Maldivian communities.

If you would like to support the conservation of whale sharks, and the research that helps to protect them, please consider making a donation toward my volunteership. Fundraised moneys will be paid in full to MWSRP to cover rental of the research dhoni (boat), accommodations, food, fuel, research equipment & community outreach.

In exchange, I promise a thrilling album of up-close encounters with whale sharks around the South Ari Atoll.

I greatly appreciate any contribution you can make towards the Program.

With gratitude and love,
Sam
