Watsons Story
Our veterinarian Dr.Reed ( from Butterfield Veterinary Hospital) kept seeing a stray dog roaming around her neighborhood. After several attempts at catching her, she had success. She discovered that the stray had a litter of puppies with her.!!
She brought all of the pups in and gave them a roof over their heads for the first time since birth. They were 8 weeks old.
Dr. Reed needed to find homes for all the puppies and the Mother, so we decided we would take in one of the males. He was a tricky little guy at first, clearly traumatized by his first few months living in the wild. He was very scared of new people and would nip at anyone that came near him. After a few months of constant work, he turned into the most incredible dog my husband and I have ever known. This dog touched our hearts and became the most beloved member of our pet family and our son grew closer to him than any of our other pets.
He is so sweet, calm, gentle, smart and funny.
After 6 months of age we started noticing his front legs were bowing out and he was limping and crying. We brought him in to the vet and tried pain medicine and a sedative in hopes that it was just a sprain. It only got worse as time went on. We just took him back in, got x-rays and sent them off to the radiologist. The news was pretty shocking.
Watson has developed Carpal Valgus and will need surgery to fix his front legs as soon as possible.
It's gotten to the point that he can no longer go on walks, play fetch, or even walk from room to room without severe pain and he is only 10 months old!
Please help us get the surgery he needs to live a long, healthy and pain free life. His first year was hard enough and he deserves a chance at a normal life.
