Hello, my name is Jenna Racz. A lot of people in town don’t know me, but you may recognize my name, or know me as the daughter of Cornell Racz.

To fill you in, I’m a third generation Trumbullite. I was born and raised in Trumbull, just like my mother and father. I attended Trumbull High School, and graduated in 2013. I now attend the University of New Haven, where I study Criminal Justice with a concentration in Law Enforcement Administration. I’m a member of the Marching Band, Vice President of the Legal Society, Committee Head for the American Criminal Justice Association, and a night shift security guard at the BIC Lighter Company. I am also a former Trumbull Police Cadet Captain, and current civilian advisor.

My dad has lived in Trumbull his entire life as well, and graduated THS in 1973.

My dad dedicated his time to our town as a Long Hill Trumbull Fireman. He has been involved with the department for decades, and saved several lives during his time as an active fireman.

My dad received the Presidential Award from Trumbull Lion's Club in 1996 on behalf of his efforts in the community, and a civilian award for his contributions to the Trumbull Police Cadets.

His parents moved to Fairfield County after my grandmother arrived from Sweden, and my Grandfather from Hungry. Eventually they made a home in Trumbull, where my father has lived since his birth.

My dad met my mom, who was also a lifelong Trumbullite and, they moved to 110 Woolsley Avenue before I was born, and it’s the place I have come to call home my entire life.

In the recent years things have become difficult on my family. My father has always made his living off of health insurance as a broker, but when the government changed the healthcare laws, he lost his job. He's been able to make some money selling insurance but not as much as he used to.

Over time, my grandmother’s house burned down. As her house was rebuilt, she lived with us and my father supported her. Eventually later in her life, she had to be put in a nursing home, and the insurance didn’t cover the care she required.

My dad met my Stepmother Janice when I was little after my parents divorced, and our family grew larger. Two years ago, my step-grandmother had to leave her home in Long Island and move in. At this point, money was tight enough recovering from previous expenses as well as taking the ferry back and forth trying to take care of her. She has high medical needs, requiring many doctors’ visits and different medication. Her bills had to take priority.

Worse still, earlier this year my father was diagnosed with being in the final stages of Liver Disease, and now is unable to work with the same capabilities he used to. He too now requires medical care, and because of his medications, he gets injured easily and must be careful with what he does.

With all this happening, our house has fallen into foreclosure. With all the various expenses, we’ve had to borrow against the previously paid off mortgage. A lawyer cannot be afforded to help with the legal issues that surround the foreclosure, as the majority of money currently being made is going to medication and food.

My family needs help, and we don't know where else to turn. All money donated will go to try and save our house and pay the bank so that we can continue to take care of my dad and step-grandmother. Cornell Racz has been a beacon of hope for so many of his friends and the community. He has done so much to help everyone he has met, no matter how many times he’s taken advantage of, and no matter how much he needs help himself.

The Bank will take possession of the house in two months, unless it can be shown that a large sum of money can be put toward the house. They want $100,000, but so long as we can show something we might have a chance.

My stepmom has a promising interview coming up where she’d get a pay increase, though my dad is still looking for work.

He has too much pride to ask himself, which is why I’m doing this without his knowledge or permission.

My dad has taught me to be a leader, to be a role model, and to see the best in people. He loves to cook, has a model train set, and posts way to many cat videos on facebook. He makes the worst dad jokes in the world and loves to make people feel good. And as you can obviously see, he has looked for nothing in return, and still isn’t even now.

Please help my hero, and Trumbull’s most loyal citizen. He wants to stay here. Let him stay here.

This would be the best present in the world, and it’s all I want for Christmas.
