A Helping Hand

"A Helping Hand" is a nonprofit project created by Pensacola High School IB Juniors Maya Humeda and Nada Eldawy to help raise money for Syrian refugees currently living in or around Egypt. All profits will be donated to UNHCR, also known as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, an organization that provides basic and necessary humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees and helps the most vulnerable refugees with urgently needed relief - cash for medicine and food, stoves and fuel for heating, insulation for tents, thermal blankets and winter clothing. It is the Syrian conflict’s fifth year and millions of refugees are caught in alarmingly deteriorating conditions, millions of children are suffering from trauma and ill health. A quarter of Syria’s schools have been damaged, destroyed or taken over for shelter.
