Help us Save Slippery Rock Creek from construction and unlawful zoning!
Hei-Way, LLC is petitioning Slippery Rock Creek Township to allow the construction of a cold -asphalt plant on a property that directly borders the creek! This construction will affect many types of wildlife, including bald eagles and osprey. Kayakers and canoers, as well as fishermen, will smell this process as they paddle down the stream, or cast after their rainbow trout targets, if this is not stopped.
Worst of all: if this plant is approved, it will dump its wastewater directly into the creek; wastewater with known carcinogens harmful to human and aquatic life!
We need to protect our beloved stream from this attack, and need all the help that can be provided!
Currently, we are fighting two legal battles: appealing the special exception status granted to Hei-Way to build a cold-mix asphalt plant on the property located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Rt. 108 and Stoughton rd., located in Slippery Rock township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. This appeal was jointly filed by Marcia Carnahan, Chris Coleman, and Paul Boas. Additionally, we are appealing the zoning decision to change this property from Rural Conservation to Industrial. This zoning change is questionable at best, and illegal at worst (often called "spot-zoning").
This fundraiser will pay for the expenses that include, but not limited to: lawyer fees, legal asst. fees, costs to obtain legal documents, and court fees.
