8/30/23

It is with the heaviest of hearts I write this update. Sarah passed at 9:02pm on Tuesday night.

We are so grateful for everyone who has donated and shared and for all the kind messages.

Her family needs strength now more than ever. Please keep sending your love and prayers to Erin and the rest of the grieving family.

For now, I am changing the title of this page to Remembering Sarah.
I will update as more information becomes available.

If you would like to contribute your photos, stories or songs that remind you of Sarah, please email them to [email redacted]

Hi, my name is Bunny and I am pleading for your help today to save my sweet, unique, kind-hearted, chosen niece, Sarah, who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant and all the aftercare that comes with it.

Sarah is a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend. She has a smile and personality that can light up any room she's in and has always been the happiest and funniest person I've known; truly beautiful, inside and out. She loves with her whole heart, is fiercely protective of her friends, and is a wonderful mother to a young daughter who is the light of her life.

Sarah was born with a condition called IGA Nephropathy (Berger's disease) and has miraculously maintained her cheerful disposition through her many hospital stays and debilitating symptoms. Recently, she has gotten much worse and had to have two surgeries to be put on home dialysis for her kidneys, but after months of trying, it didn't work. She is currently doing hemodialysis 3 days a week, but her condition has deteriorated into total kidney failure, affecting her heart and lungs, making it difficult to breathe. She is at risk of sudden heart death, which is absolutely terrifying. She puts on a brave face for her daughter and brothers, but she needs this transplant NOW.

Sarah's mother, Erin, is my best friend of 20 years, and I have watched her give everything she has to keep her daughter alive and healthy. She is the type of mother who would do anything for her children, including selling her home and well-established real estate business to start from scratch in another state that could provide better medical care for Sarah. She has exhausted all her means, financially, emotionally, and physically - to give Sarah a fighting chance. She has been giving Sarah around-the-clock care and will need to continue that care after the life-saving operation, which makes working a typical 9-5 job impossible.

Living with a serious illness is not easy or cheap, even with the best insurance. Every penny donated will be going directly to Sarah's medical and housing needs, as well as their basics such as food, electricity, gas to get to the hospital, etc. This is a family in desperate need who is more than deserving of any help received. I know they will be grateful for your prayers as well as monetary support. If you cannot afford to donate, please share this fundraiser wherever you can.

Please help us save Sarah.

She deserves to watch her own daughter grow up.
She deserves a life of health and happiness.
She deserves to live.
