A 2nd Chance: Battle Against Addiction #SaveMySisterC

My little sister has been courageously battling heroin addiction for 10+ long yrs, & now has a chance to turn her life around with rehab with your help. The opioid epidemic is no stranger to the USA. Most of us know someone or have met a someone with a friend of a friend that has died from overdose. Although it is her addiction, it has been something that has ripped apart our family for too long. I was once ridiculed by others & embarrassed by the situation but am no longer & am asking for help.

A little about our family: When Hurricane Isabel condemned our house in high school my single Mom of 3 was was left financially burdened. The accident left us with PTSD that later led to Caroline's addiction. It was then that I was called to medicine but could not keep trying to help my family until I 1st helped myself. I have recently been able to pursue this as a PA student & am in a more stable position to make this GoFundMe I have thought about starting so many times.

States usually only cover 1 wk of detox which is NOT enough. Rehab & recovery is reserved for those that come from wealthy families with disposable income, neither of which we have. She is currently in a unstable living situation without a reliable food source other than the local food bank & the orders I use my student loans to pay for. I used to tell her to get a job until I saw what true addiction meant & her only hope of living a normal life again would be to 1st recover from addiction.

We are raising $15,000 to cover the costs of rehab (the national avg is 5-80k) , the necessary expenses to get her there, & a car to help her rebuild her life afterward. If I can raise this it will help me not have to take out a private loan on top of my 250k in student loan debt.

Your generous donation can provide her with the support she desperately needs to break free from addiction and embark on a path to a brighter, healthier future. Note: She has NO access to this money. I am fully responsible for raising it & making sure it goes directly to the rehabilitation facility. I understand that this will take a long amount of time to achieve but it will be worth the new life it brings. <3
