My Grandad Vs Cancer
Donation protected

I am getting married next year and really couldn't care less how much the dress costs, whether or not I put a few extra pounds on or what goes wrong on the day- I just want my Dad there, walking me down the aisle. It would mean the world to me, to him, and also to my 2 year old son, Isaac, who just adores him.
He is such a loving Dad, Grandad and husband and I would love nothing more than to give him some hope right now.
Dad is not long retired and has just been diagnosed with terminal ( stage 4)cancer. His oncologist wants him to start palliative chemo at the end of October, and the best case scenario she offered is it will give him up to a year of life but she has really given him no hope at all.
In a recent study done on chemotherapy and lung cancer it was discovered that up to 50% of cancer sufferers died within a month of starting chemo treatment, from the treatment itself. It doesn't work well on lung tumours and it's hard enough watching the disease rob him of his breath right now, we don't want him to spend what could be his last months of life anymore debilitated. We would give anything for another option for him, and it appears there is one.
There are a small number of German clinics that provide treatment that can't be found in Ireland, there has been a great number of success stories from past patients but we need help funding this. I would be forever grateful to anyone that could help us right now,no matter how small the amount. A miracle cure would be great, but all of his family would be more than happy to settle for a few extra years of life, a life he is able to enjoy. Dad worked hard all of his life to support his family and has always put everyone else ahead of himself, he is what a Dad is supposed to be- kind and caring, and his smile and good humour brighten our days, but none moreso than Isaac's.
Amazing things can happen when people come together, I know Dad would be the first to help someone in his situation, and we have faith in all the good folks we know, and even those we don't, and hopefully it will be enough to give him the chance he deserves.
Thank you so much.
