Hi everyone. This GoFundMe is for my cat, Loaf.
In June of 2021, Loaf became very sick due to a fever of unknown origin. He spent over a week hospitalized and had dozens of tests run that all came back normal. He miraculously fought the 106.9 fever and was able to come home - living on meds for an additional month.
In the past weekend, his behavior started to change - like how he acted when he was sick. Lethargic, not eating, and a fever. As of March 28th, his fever is 104.6 - a normal temperature is around 102.
The veterinarians still have no idea what is causing this fever and why it keeps returning. Right now he’s on a medication called Clavamox.
Update 29th — loaf is in the emergency hospital. His temperature rose to 105.9. He’s on an iv, getting fluids and meds. He is going to be tested on numerous things. (Blood tests, infectious disease panel, ultrasound, lymph nodes, bartanella, toxoplasmosis and lymphomas). For 3 days of hospitalization- it totals to $2,500, additional tests, medications and possible additional stay will increase the amount. Keep my baby in your prayers.
Update #2 29th — the doctor thinks he has bartonella. His white blood cells are off. He has an extremely low plate count. No cancer!!!! His lymph nodes are swollen due to infection from the bartonella. He still has a fever. Just praying that the meds and IV’s work to bring down his temperature and get rid of bartonella once and for all!!!!!
This GoFundMe is to help raise funds for the testing and hospitalization Loaf needs.
I am a college student so I currently do not have a job, I spent all of my savings the last time he was sick- which totaled to 3,000. I’m asking for help to afford the bills so he can be hospitalized again.
Please help me save my baby. He is my whole world.
LOAFS STORY:
I found loaf when he was 4 months old. He was small and dirty. I found him under my boyfriends car. I immediately put him in my coat because it was raining. I started yelling at my boyfriend “I have a cat I have a cat!!” He told me no, but he can suck it up. I took loaf home. Oh and my mom was out of the country at the time- so that was a fun surprise for her when she got back. Ever since then, he has been the light in my life. I was going through a rough time, then covid came, but loaf was always there for me. I love him more than anything. The first time he got sick, the vets told me they didn’t know what was wrong with him and that he was going to die. My heart broke. He pushed through the fever, not eating or drinking for over a week, and finally came home to me. He’s been healthy and happy, also fat, for 9 months. This came out of nowhere. He started acting like how he did when he was sick. I took him to the vet on the 28th and they said his fever was back. He’s had dozens of tests and they have all came back normal. I don’t know what is causing my baby to be sick. I’m raising money so he can live. He’s only 2 years old. He doesn’t deserve this.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me.
