Hello, my name is William Westbrook and my canine is Maximus. I have been a Police Officer for 17 years and recently suffered an injury that may end my career that I love deeply. Maximus has been with me and my family for the last three years since he was a puppy. Maximus was sent to me from Czechoslovakia and trained in Police work. Maximus is trained in all forms of narcotic detection, tracking, apprehension and handler protection. I am with Maximus 24/7 at work and at home. I was told by my department that Maximus would be taken from me and reassigned to another officer when they retire me. I was given the option to purchase my best friend for 15,000. With five kids and medical bills I dont have the option or means to keep Maximus in the only home he has ever known. I have never done anything like this and my pride makes telling my story hard but Maximus is very important to me and my family. The department will start the transition within the next few weeks. Maximus and my family would appreciate any help we can get to keep him where he belongs. Any extra donations would be used to purchase bulletproof vests for other Police canines to keep them all safe.
Thank you for reading my story,
William Westbrook Maximus
Hello This is William Westbrook and Gofundme has requested that I add some information to ensure them and the amazing donors that I am who I say I am. I am Police Officer for the city of Los Banos in central California. I have worked for the department for almost 17 years. I am raising money for my working Police K9 Maximus and the money raised will go towards purchasing Maximus from the department because I may have to retire because of work related injuries. I am so thankful for ABC30 Sara Sandrik and KMPH26 Erik Rosales for coming to my home and meeting Maximus and myself. If you havent seen the segments please check them out on the news websites. thank you all again and gofundme for giving me the platform.
Hello this is William Westbrook. Everyone I have met talked to and have yet meet has been so generous and amazing. The people have have taken me from seeing all the bad people in the world to seeing what can be good. I am not changing the goal to be greedy or make a dime for myself. I now have Maximus thanks to the wonderful people but now I am motivated to help other working Police dogs that dont have bulletproof vests. Maximus has one because of a generous donation and I would like to pay it forward. All vests are custom fit to each dog just they are fit to the human officers. The vests can run between 1200 and 1500 each. I have been in contact with a few companies that are willing to drop the cost for this cause so we can get more dogs protected. I would like to start in the valley because the valley stood stong for Maximus. I want to meet and thank everyone in person whether you gave $5 or $5000 or just passed on the message. We are are all one with this cause. I do want to thank Sara Sandrik from ABC30 and Erik Rosales from KMPH26 again for brining us all together. I will finish my thank you emails to everyone I promise but my fingers get tired as Im not used to typing so much. I can keep talking but I honestly dont have the words to explain how I feel about this. The response had my entire family in tears last night when we met our goal. YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!
