Hi, my name is Jess, and I’m fighting to save my raccoon Jerry after a life-threatening trauma that left him unable to eat, swallow, or breathe normally.
Nine days ago, Jerry suffered a major injury to his jaw, throat, and trachea.
He survived when he absolutely shouldn’t have.
He spent days on oxygen, multiple rounds of emergency medications, anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, fluids, and constant monitoring. He hasn’t been able to eat in over a week because of swelling, airway damage, and pain — and he is now at the point where he needs a feeding tube to survive.
Jerry is a licensed, domestically bred raccoon, not a wild one — so his vet care is fully legal, and he depends on humans to survive. He is not a wild rescue. He is part of my family.
I have been caring for him around the clock:
• Maintaining his oxygen box
• Hydrating him drop by drop
• Keeping him warm, stable, and calm
• Paying out-of-pocket for every medication and emergency visit
• Monitoring him through vomiting, swelling, and airway struggles
• Fighting through holiday closures with almost no veterinary access
Jerry has fought SO HARD.
He is still alive on Day 9 when most animals with these injuries never make it past Day 1.
Now the vets agree the next step is a feeding tube, continued medical care, and supportive treatment so he can finally heal, eat, and regain strength.
I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t keep up with the mounting emergency costs alone. Emergency vet care for exotic animals is extremely expensive, and the bills are piling up fast.
If you can help — even a few dollars — it will directly go to:
• Feeding tube placement
• Follow-up veterinary care
• Medications
• Imaging and airway evaluation
• Fluids and supportive treatment
• Oxygen supplies
• Emergency visits
Every bit helps.
Jerry is fighting with everything he has.
If you can help me keep him alive and give him the chance he deserves, I will be forever grateful.
Thank you for reading, sharing, donating — anything you can do.
Jerry wants to live. And I’m not giving up on him.
❤️
— Jess
