Please join us in supporting Nicole Henry and her family with their fight against cancer.
Nicole is a 28 year old, born and raised, Lancaster County woman. In her late teens, Nicole was told she would most likely not be able to have children. She was devastated! Having children had always been a major goal for her.
Years passed and Nicole married the man of her dreams. Tom and Nicole decided to go against the odds and try fertility treatments.
Finally, Nicole was able to conceive! The pregnancy was not easy! She was high risk and had multiple complications from beginning to end. Nicole and her family were strong. They supported each other through thick and thin. Finally, their miracle baby boy was born. Jackson was perfect! Thank God for this beautiful and healthy baby!
A few weeks after giving birth, things got complicated. A tumor the size of a football was growing on the side of Nicole's liver. It was preventing food from passing to her stomach. It had to be removed immediately! Nicole had the tumor, part of her liver and her gallbladder removed. For 12 weeks, Nicole was not allowed to hold her baby boy. This was an extremely difficult time for Nicole and her family. But like always, they supported each other in anyway possible!
The biopsy showed the tumor was cancerous. The good news was the entire tumor was removed and additional testing showed everything was clear!
Three months later, Nicole's follow up tests showed the cancer had spread to her lungs and was mostly inoperable. Doctors were only able to remove one tumor from her lungs. Again, Nicole's interaction with baby Jackson was limited.
Nicole has been diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. There are not many treatment options for this specific type of cancer. The most effective treatment is surgical removal of all tumors. In this case, that is not an option.
Nicole's doctors are working on a treatment plan to help slow the growth of FHC. Even with treatment, her prognosis is not good. The doctors are giving her 1-2 years.
Please help support Nicole, Jackson, and Tom. Every penny helps! There are so many costs associated with this horrible disease! Travel costs, time off, insurance payments, medication. Not to mention the cost of raising a child. This new family was dealt a crappy hand! I want to help them enjoy the time they have together. Will you help me make it possible?
