Save GoodLiving® Magazine

Please help me save the GOOD that is in GoodLiving® Magazine.  I am the mom of a young child. I am also a small business owner, a mompreneur on a mission ~ sweating emotion every day working to produce something meaningful and of high quality for my community. To run a business that has character and integrity and stands for the families who are my readers and beyond.  We print stories that other publications don't; of local heroes, like teachers, youth workers, volunteers and kids who start charities. We encourage through the telling of true stories. These stories are our mission. And for five years, this magazine has been making a positive difference by sharing the good.  See them here: http://goodlivingmagazine.com/past-issues/

So why does this magazine need saving?

Because the name GoodLiving® Magazine is the embodiment of a true and legitimate business. I went through all the appropriate steps to secure this name and properly trademark and register the name. There isn't another online or print magazine out there with that name.  Yet someone can come along and challenge this with the trademark office and they are obligated to hear every case whether it has merit or not.

This person is counting on me as a small business to give up without a fight because of the high expense.

So why should other people care?

In my local community: This magazine is an asset to our community and it stands for all the good stories that have already been told and stories yet to tell.

In support of GOOD NEWS!: I have taken a stand to share the good news to lift up and inspire people to positive actions. Help me keep going!

In support of mompreneurs: We work hard to build businesses and raise our children at the same time. It's a dedicated group of business owners who understand the passion and sacrifices. Today, I need your support in my time of need.

In support of small businesses: I went about the acquiring of the trademark fair and square.  Yet anyone can come in and start an extremely complicated and costly process that requires expensive lawyers. The high cost must be paid whether the case has merit or not. Small businesses are at a disadvantage when it comes to such a complicated federal process and they only give you 40 days.

In support of print media: If you are in the publishing business at any level, then this case should be a concern.  We are seeing a watering down of our industry and our business practices are being redefined. The Internet provides anyone an opportunity to say anything, and without going into detail here, this means trouble for our business model.

It is difficult for me ask for help. But I love the business I have built and I can't just sit here and not fight for all the heroes who have been on our covers and all the stories that have been inside. Cumulatively those stories embody GoodLiving® Magazine and the brand that has been built on its shiny, print pages of a real magazine.

Please help me save the GOOD that is GoodLiving® Magazine.
