Save Ginger From Being Put Down
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Ginger and my ‘human parents’ and I need your help. I need surgery to save my life, right away. I was a stray for a while when I was younger, abandoned by my original people. Someone very nice found me on the side of a highway, then, my current human parents rescued me! I was in pretty bad shape at that time, emaciated as well as having a very serious bladder and urinary tract infection. My human parents took me to their vet (who guesses I was about 2 years-old at the time) who believed I was too sick to save and told them to ‘put me down’. My human parents said NO WAY and fought for me by taking me to a specialist. Even the specialist didn’t believe I could be healed, but my human parents insisted. Well, it took almost a year but, I got better. That was two years ago.
A week and a half ago, I started having difficulty peeing again. I went to my regular doctor and he gave me antibiotics. The medicine didn’t help this time. After 3 days, I couldn’t pee at all and was having a tough time breathing. It happened so fast! So my human parents took me back to the vet that had saved me before. This time, my urethra had collapsed which is why I couldn’t pee at all. My doctor said that my bladder was so full, that it was within a few hours of bursting. Since she is in the same building as the hospital, Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic, she walked me over here to have the ER doctors drain my bladder with a catheter. My urethra was so closed off that it took them almost 3 hours to put the catheter in! Thankfully, I was asleep the whole time. I certainly felt much better when they woke me up.
I’m still here. I have been in the emergency animal hospital for 6 days now! At the end of my second day here, my ER doctor removed my catheter so I could try to pee on my own. I still can’t. It was so hard to put the first one in, that doing it again is not a good idea. So, twice a day, every day, the doctors have to use a big needle through the side of my belly to drain my bladder. Ouch! My doctors here are so wonderful, so very kind to me. Besides taking really good care of me, they love on me, have smooch-fests with me and help me feel safe while I’m away from my home and my human parents.
My human parents have been told that my urethra problem is due to it being formed wrong before I was born. Corrective surgery can be done so I can pee like a normal dog for the rest of my life. This will be very expensive for my human parents, so we need your help. The hospital is already costing very much but the surgery is going to cost a whole lot more. Animal emergency care does not have the same payment rules as human emergency care. For us, most, if not all, of the money has to be paid up front, which is why so many of us get ‘put down’. It’s just not fair!
My human parents are fighting very hard for me, refusing to let me die just because I can’t pee on my own right now. They don’t have extra thousands of dollars to pay for my surgery, but refuse to let me die because of money. They love me and I love them and we want to stay together. Please help me stay, to live my life and be happy with my human parents. My human parents need me as much as I need them.
Please help me and my human parents by making donations for me to have surgery. I need this surgery right away, so please donate as soon as you can. My human parents say that any extra donation amount that comes in over and above what they need for my surgery will be donated to my hospital to help save the lives of other animals.
Thank you so very much for helping me!
