I met Bryanna for the first time in the mock trial program at EWU and we immediately bonded over shared life experiences. Her mom had recently passed away from a long battle with cancer, and my dad was in the final stages of emphysema. Bryanna had come back from taking time off from college - time she took off to take care of her mom at the end of her life. 

 

Just a few months after her mom passed away, Bryanna got her dog Gage. He has been with her over numerous challenges that have continued to come her way. She went back to college and worked her way through graduation. She took the LSAT and got into law school. She moved down to San Diego and eventually graduated from Thomas Jefferson. Throughout her time there, she worked at the San Diego DA's Office and the Sacramento DA's office. After passing the bar in Washington, she finally fulfilled her dream of becoming a prosecutor, and currently works at the Adam's County DA's office. 

 

Unlike Bryanna, many of us had parents who gave us a soft place to fall during this type of journey. Every step of the way, Bryanna got there on her own. She never quit regardless of the  adversity that she faced. Gage has been one of the very few constants in Bryanna's life since her mom passed away.

 

About a week ago, Gage lost his sight and was having trouble standing. Since that time, Bryanna has taken him to numerous vet appointments which have already cost her over $1000. The final appointment has been with a neurologist who believes Gage's condition is treatable. However, as those of you with pets know, the cost of the treatment is astronomical. Like most of us, she would give up just about anything to help him live. 

 

Long story short, we are hoping to raise $2k by Friday to give to Bryanna before her next trip to the vet. For those of you who know her, I'd appreciate it if you did not mention it to her at this point. 

 

I cannot think of anyone in my life who could possibly deserve a miracle more than Bryanna does. Any contribution, no matter how small, can collectively make all of the difference to her. At the very least, I ask you to keep her and Gage in your prayers.
