I got my Charlie when he was just a few weeks old, wrapped in a blanket with a baby bottle to feed him. He had been rescued from a litter in a barn in Georgetown, Delaware in the middle of a snow storm. The parents were huddled around the litter, trying to keep them all warm.
A friend and neighbor of mine found them while picking up lunch to take back to her office. She knew my black lab had died unexpectedly a few months ago, at the mere age of 6, and I was devastated. So, she saved Charlie for me, and told me there was a "waiting list" for the little fluff ball if I, for some reason, didn't want him. One look at that face, and I was history. I still melt every time I look at his adorable face!
Obviously, I was devastated to learn he had testicular cancer just a couple days ago. Unfortunately, on the same day I got this news, I received the word that my job was being phased out in the coming weeks.
Charlie's vet is very optimistic that we can remove the tumor and never hear from the cancer again ... it is thankfully the type that 90+% of the time, does not metastasize, spread or recur.
So I have to do the surgery. For Charlie. For our family. But I don't have the money. This job situation comes on the heals of several other unexpected and quite expensive "surprises" that have presented themselves to me in the last couple months. This all also comes in addition to the loss of my father last month.
I hope you will find it in your heart to donate a few dollars to help me with the cost of the surgery. If you have a dog, or ever had a dog, you know the kind of love that I am talking about, and am blessed to know firsthand. I am not ready to be without that simply because of money.
Thank you ~ DOGS RULE!
