Dear Canyon Creek Families,
We have had the honor of playing with your kids (and some of you when you were kids!) for over 20 years now. Throughout this time, we have sent countless emails but none more important than this one. Whether you are a 15-year alumni or a first-time camper, we need you to please read this message.
Over the past 20 years, we have had some amazing times, and we have faced some equally harsh challenges. We remarkably came through the 30,000-acre Powerhouse fire in 2013, subsequent mudslides and floods, and during the height of the pandemic last year, the Lakes fire that came within hundreds of yards of camp.
We are now facing a challenge bigger than any natural disaster we have encountered – quite simply the pandemic has devastated our business.
As we have chronicled for close to a year now, Canyon Creek is in a serious financial crisis. Although we just recently received the great news that camps will be allowed to open this summer, after a year of zero income, continued overhead, rising costs to be Covid-compliant, and reduced capacity due to county protocols, Canyon Creek does not currently have enough working capital to make it through this summer.
What you can do:
This is the hard part for us. We are used to being the caregivers, nurturers, and providers. But, as we have taught our campers throughout the years, if you need help, don’t be afraid to ask. We need help. In 21 years, we have never done a fundraiser. However, right now we need to raise up to $1.5 million. We know this is a huge number but we have an equally huge Canyon Creek family and we believe that we can get there with your help. We wholeheartedly believe that Canyon Creek MUST survive, Canyon Creek MUST go on, and we hope that you agree.

In addition, we have also established a “Leave a Legacy” program offering namesake opportunities for any families or entities that are able to make a significant donation over $10,000. When we need help:
Unfortunately, time is not on our side – we need to raise this money quickly so we can assure our currently registered families that they can expect the same amazing camp experience in 2021 as we have provided every summer so far. Please help us get past this hurdle and make the future of Canyon Creek possible not only for your kids but for future generations.

Kids today need to experience the power of camp more than ever. We would have been celebrating our 20th summer in 2020 and as sad as it was to miss that milestone, we are confident that with your help we will one day be celebrating our 100th summer!
