To anyone who will listen,
My name is Kortnee and I have a 7 year old Yorkie named Cali. This is my story. I bought Cali from a breeder in Litchfield, NH. Cali was the runt of the litter but she was definitely personality plus. She saw me, I saw her, and it was love at first sight. Not too long after I took her home, I found out that she had a liver shunt. She has been an expensive little girl with nine lives. When Cali was age one, we went to the beach to visit relatives, Cali was the center of attention playing fetch on the beach. Oh, we had a great time. That evening, she began to vomit and shake. We paid a visit to the ER
and sure enough, my 2.5 lb baby had a belly full of sand. You see, every time she would fetch the ball, all the sand on the ball, well, she swallowed it. Cali spent the night in the hospital on IV's and several enemas. She is my little fighter. No surgery for her. She pooped out all the sand.
Another incident, we were in the garage and she jumped out of the car before I could grab her. She ran under the door (electric door), the alarm did not go off because she is so small. She ran under the door and it closed on her lower back. I don't know how but, no broken bones. She had plenty of pain though which was controlled with chicken flavored Tramadol for the discomfort.
Cali and I have been through a lot together.
Recently, I noticed that she had a distended belly. I thought that maybe she was gaining some weight. Let me rephrase that, I was in denial. Cali always weighted in at 3.5 lbs. Cali is now 4.8 lbs. I knew something wasn't right. She had blood work done and an ultra sound. Cali has a tumor in the center of her liver. The physician said her only hope was surgery. Without the surgery it is only a matter of time for the rapidly growing tumor to burst. Cali is my world. I feel like I need to try everything possible to keep her alive. I am asking anyone out of the kindness in their heart to help my little peanut. I understand, everyone has their own crosses to bare but a small donation from you could give Cali a chance to live, along with the help of God.
Thank you to all.
Love Kort&Cali (My little fighter)
