Help Pilar Save Her Dixon Farmhouse
Pilar and her daughter, Anna Maria, own a 120 year old adobe house in the Dixon Valley in Northern New Mexico. Her home has water rights and is located on an acequia. Since buying the house in 2004' this has been the location of Pilar's home, work, and garden, though she also rents fields in Valarde to supplement her limited garden space at her home. Pilar has been a grower and vendor at the Santa Fe Farmers Market for 32 years. Over the years, the roof on the house has suffered water damage which has caused the vigas to rot and become weak. It is only a short time before the roof is going to fail, and fall in on her. She is hoping that she will be able to replace the roof and in the process install insulation in the ceiling, as it was originally built without insulation which has made for some very cold conditions in the winter. Pilar has met with local carpenters in the Dixon area regarding getting the repair work done.
