Hello — I’m Heather and this is my boy, Zuma.
Zuma came into my life at 8 weeks old on 27 January 2018, at a moment when I desperately needed hope. I’d just been told another round of IVF had failed and I was heartbroken. That cheeky black Labrador puppy stole my heart and gave me a reason to keep going. Over the last seven years he’s been more than a pet — he’s been my joy, my comfort and the reason I got up on the hardest days.
On Monday 15th September a suspected UTI led to an urgent vet visit and then an emergency referral to Swindon. Zuma was found to be bleeding into his abdomen from a ruptured mass on his spleen and needed immediate surgery. He isn’t covered by pet insurance, and his surgery and ongoing treatment are currently estimated at £7,000+.
Zuma is special — anyone who meets him will tell you so. He’s playful, loving, and the light of my life. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know he’s a fighter and I want to give him every chance to recover.
If you can spare anything to help cover his vet bills — even the cost of a cup of coffee — it would mean the world. Your support will go directly to hospital fees, surgery, medication, scans and any further care he needs.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping save Zuma’s life. I will post updates here so you can see how he’s doing and how your kindness is helping.
With gratitude,
Heather & Zuma
