Save Zeus the Pomeranian

Hello everyone, I’d like for you to meet my little brother Zeus. As of this moment he is fighting for his life with every breath. On Saturday, May 15th, Zeus began suffering from extremely labored breathing. Clearly being in a lot of distress, he needed to be taken to the emergency veterinary hospital here in Syracuse. Sadly, Zeus is suffering from a collapsed trachea almost completely blocking his airway. This was caused by intubation that had to be done several years ago during a dental procedure to remove baby teeth that never fell out.

We’ve had to take Zeus to Rochester due to issues with the Syracuse hospital and capacity issues at Cornell.  At only 5 pounds, it has been a struggle to run important tests, as the margin over-sedation is small and could be a death sentence. Based on his current condition, its almost guaranteed that medically managing Zeus’ condition with steroids is out of the question. Unfortunately, his only realistic shot right now is to have surgery to support his trachea.

Fortunately, the location of his trachea collapse gives the the surgery Zeus needs a 90% chance of being successful. We are currently in the process of getting Zeus to Cornell for his operation.

Please, our family needs all the support we can get to bring its smallest member back home, and help him be able to enjoy the quality of life he deserves. The goal I have set won’t cover everything, however it hopefully will be enough to help us be able to afford to save him.
