Save Zamboni the cat! Three years in the streets of Edmonton
Donation protected
Hi! I am Kira. I live in Garneau, Edmonton, near University of Alberta campus. We rescued this handsome and sweet boy cat with the help of two trappers about a month ago (picture is from the day when he was caught, he had matted fur and he was very scared/sad that day). According to our neighbours, he had been roaming the streets for three years, kept alive by his own resourcefulness and kind people who provided outdoor shelters and food. First one of his eyes went blind after an injury, and later, the second one. He wandered into our back yard one day, walking very slowly and looking very sad. It took two weeks to find where he was hiding. He turned out to be surprisingly healthy and very sweet/docile. He is obviously an abandoned house cat. The eyes went untreated too long and he now has glaucoma. Pain medication helped but he will have to have both eyes removed. Please help us save this sweet chonky boy who has such will to live! His surgery (by a skilled surgeon) is CAD 3800 (scheduled for April 23 at 8:30 AM at Sturgeon Animal Hospital) and I am hoping to recover at least some of the cost. He has a home and is expected to recover and lead a happy and fulfilling life indoors. He is in a safe, private space now and is looking a lot better and has started to come out of his shell. UPDATE: The surgery ended up being less than estimated - CAD 2743.18 likely because it went fast and without complications.
