Bibi is a young 26 year old woman in Afghanistan who will be sold off to become the wife of an old man with 3 other wives. Please read Bibi’s story and help us.
Bibi’s family is poor and live in a very rural
part of the county. Bibi is illiterate and has endured a lifetime of abuse and trauma. At the age of 11, Bibi was sold for $2000 to a man in his late 30s. She was forced to be a birthing machine and punching bag for this monster of a man. On their “wedding night”, he turned music up very loud so no one could hear Bibi’s screams and cries as he raped her. This was the beginning of her hell.
Over the next several years, this man beat Bibi and regularly starved her. Bibi eventually gave birth to five children, 3 boys, 2 girls. The monster husband also taught the oldest son to beat Bibi. This horrible life seemed to never have an end.
One night, Bibi mustered the strength to stand up to her rapist husband. She demanded he stop beating her. He threw her out of their home in the middle of the night, alone, with nothing.
Bibi defied the odds and found help to file for divorce. She succeeded in the divorce but before she could start a new life, the rapist ex came back to punish her one more time. He told the courts that Bibi stole money from him. He had no proof, nothing. The court only required that he swear on the holy book, which he did. The court doesn’t care about Bibi’s side of the story or the fact that the rapist monster had no proof. The court ruled in his favor and ruled that Bibi must either go back to him, pay him the money, or go to jail.
Bibi has no money, she has nothing. Just scars. She will not go back to the monster.
Now Bibi’s family found a new option and is going to sell her to another old man. This old man will buy her and also pay her supposed debt to the abusive ex.
Bibi wants to make her own choices in life. She wants to get a basic education, she wants to hire a lawyer and fight to get her children back from the monster ex who still has them, she doesn’t want to be sold off again. Bibi wants to raise her children in safety. No woman, no person should be sold. No person should be allowed to be raped in the name of a fake marriage. Even though there are far too many people like Bibi, if we are able to help her, a part of the world gets better. Her children can have a better life and they can break this cycle of abuse and get education.
The goal amount of 2700.00 will cover the amount Bibi must pay the court aka her ex husband, it also will allow her to avoid being sold off to another stranger. If we collect more than the goal, Bibi will be able to find another lawyer and begin fighting to get her 5 children away from the rapist monster and get them back to her. The money will allow Bibi to have a safe home and access education for not just herself but for her children. Her youngest child is only 2 years old, this child can know a world of love. Who am I? For the last few years I have been actively helping refugees settle into the US, specifically those from Afghanistan who have served with our troops as interpreters. I know of Bibi through my connections, through close family friends who also helped the US government in Afghanistan.
I personally am collecting the funds and will send 100% of the money to her directly to western Union in Herat.
