Save Xena: Urgent Life-Saving Surgery Needed asap

Hi, my name is Samantha-jo. I am trying to raise funds for my beautiful German Shepherd, Princess Xena, aka Xena, our warrior princess! She is in desperate need of a life-saving procedure, or else we will have to elect to euthanize her come Monday. Xena currently needs a hind-leg amputation to the hip bone. If not, she will not make it. I have spent hundreds these past few weeks trying to save her with our vet.

We are currently going to Lake Vet in Mt Dora, FL to get her hind leg amputation. Out of all the vets called in the state of Florida, they are the only ones willing to assist us with the surgery and cost.

We are trying to raise $2500 to be able to cover the surgery and the offset of the price that GoFundMe will take out as well as the physical therapy that she will need after the procedure.

Xena got stuck a few weeks ago, her leg was swollen so we started her on antibiotics and prednisone. We took her to the vet but her leg was so swollen he was unable to stitch the cut back up. He told us to bring her back after the swelling was gone. After about a week, we brought her back but he was still unable to do anything as most of the skin was peeling off. He told us to come back again in a few days, and she was looking worse but he said it was okay and to start honey wrap every day from AM to AM.

For about a week everything was fine. On Saturday, I went to take the wrap off and it hurt her more this time. I could also see about an inch of bone. I chose to not rewrap her that night. She also broke her cone and we did not put it back on. I did not know dogs would chew their own flesh off and the next morning we woke up to almost all of the bone on her foot showing. We took her back to the vet and he was unable to fix it anymore and said it needed to be amputated. He tried for days to find a doctor to assist him but with no luck.

Within 2 hours of leaving the vet, she had chewed her toes off and now has shared bones coming out. This was on Tuesday. We took her back to the vet on Wednesday and they rewrapped her for us.

We decided to euthanize and found a place where we could afford to do it because we were having no luck with anything else, no one would take her as a surrender either. When we got there, the vet there said she could save her if we could come up with the money and she lowered our cost with the owner so she could get the surgery!

We have a dog page on FB, The DogMother House of Shepherds and Bostons, you can see our beautiful Xena there and more about us! Please feel free to follow if you are not as we have over 26k followers. Our dogs are very well-loved and cared for. Life has just been beating me left and right. I just had to fix my septic this week and my AC 2 weeks ago for the second time this year and my electricity is out in my garage, which will wait until life lets me catch back up from everything else first. Right now, Xena is more important. I am trying my hardest to keep my baby alive. Please, if you can donate anything to help save our Xena, we will forever be grateful! Thank you and bless you for your support!
