Save Whitley Field!

Howard L. Whitley Field is a model aircraft field that for over 30 years has provided a safe venue for model enthusiasts and spectators alike to enjoy the wonderful hobby of model aircraft. Located in Campbellsville, KY this is the destination for many fliers across Central Kentucky, tourists visiting Green River lake or the Jets over Kentucky event held at the Taylor County Airport. Unfortunately, time has not been so kind to this flying site and it is in desperate need of repairs. Recently, the local AMA chartered club that calls this field home (IFA #4876) has been dedicated to pursuing the repairs and upgrades necessary to get this flying site in appropriate condition. A local company (Powell's Asphalt Sealcoating and Striping) has made a very generous offer to help with repairs needed on the runway. However, with the size of the runway, help is needed with cost of materials. The short term goals set in place are to make repairs/upgrades needed in order to host events, train new pilots (Great source of STEM education for high school students), and of course grow the hobby! All donations made will be held in the club bank account, to be used exclusively on repairs/upgrades to Whitley Field so our community can have a safe place to enjoy the hobby for years to come!
