This video store has been in existence for over 35 years. I believe as the sole owner that it is important to have the choice to own or rent physical media. But this store is much more than that...it has been part of the community of Astoria, Oregon and Clatsop County, and gives people a social gathering place that's away from the restraints of the system...e.g the internet and "smart" technology. We invite all to communicate about your favorite films, artists, celebrities, or what beer you prefer. Seriously, every day we get people from out of town who love the store, and wish they had it in their home town. But I and many of my regulars feel very attached to the experience of "going to the video store", browsing the shelves and picking from films that are not readily available any more.
Now, with the coronavirus pandemic, staying in business has become quite a challenge. We are presently closed to protect employees and customers alike. But we are working on a "take-out" movie service very similar to restaurants take-out. Our goal is to provide safe transfer of physical media with thorough cleaning of the discs and the cases, and minimal physical contact. We understand how many of our customers rely upon our services for their relief from the stresses of this world we are living in.
Future plans include creating an amazing library of all kinds of physical media...including DVD's, VHS, vinyl records, videogames. My goal is to create a physical media shopping space unrivaled this side of Portland, yet keep the feel of the small town video store.
Funds given here will be used to help create this, and help to sustain Astoria's vibrant retail community. It would mean so much to me to receive any help from anyone. Pray that we once again soon will be able to return to the life we once knew and embraced. Thank you for reading my post, and God Bless all of you.
