My wife Gayla started pouring her heart and soul into a little yoga studio named Vibe Yoga in 2013. Over the last seven years she has been able to build a wonderful community dedicated to helping people better themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. In the last six years in a row, Vibe Yoga has been voted the best yoga studio in our city. In addition to teaching students, Gayla has been co-partnering to teach and certify new yoga teachers every year. I could not be more proud of her or her efforts.
As we've learned over the years, people don't own yoga studios to become wealthy business owners. Times are more often lean than not. Through that, Gayla has forgone paying herself for much of her time, and instead socked the money away for a rainy day. The COVID pandemic, governor's shutting down yoga studios, and people's fear now that studios are opening have hit the studio hard. Several of the other studios in our area have already lost the survival battle. Since March, the studio has operated at a significant loss each month. Covering rent, operating costs, and payroll for 14 teachers is more than what we're bringing in. Vibe's ability to weather the storm is rapidly evaporating. We are looking for any help we can get in order to save the studio and continue to support the community Vibe has come to love.
Our goal is simple, to be open in order to welcome people back to the studio in their own time, as they feel safe to venture out again. The dedicated students coming to classes now need their home away from home. The rapidly dwindling bank account and reduced revenue make the timing urgent.
We've done all we can so far which includes not taking salary, government payroll protection loan, as well as negotiating cost reductions from vendors and landlords. I don't have the personal income to make up the shortfall with even the reduced costs. This humbling attempt at asking for help is our last, best hope.
I can't truly describe how grateful I, or my sweet bride watching her dream in jeopardy, will be for any help you can provide. She's always telling me “you get back what you put out into the universe”. Here's me hoping karma will prevail.
Thank you for sharing a few minutes of your life with me and the Vibe story.
