Friends and family
On December 31st my family was lucky enough to adopt the sweetest 7 week old female Chihuahua puppy, Velvet. We are absolutely in love with her! She is such a special little dog and my 12 yo brother, Shane’s, first dog. Shane’s birthday was January 2nd, so Velvet was a long-awaited gift for him. Shane has been sick with mono since his birthday, and our mom Stephanie (the owner) is currently unemployed due to her hair styling business being repeatedly shut down (due to Coronavirus) and needing to be home to care for Shane.
Velvet has tested positive for canine Parvovirus. Parvo is an extremely deadly disease that young puppies are especially at risk of. We’ve had Velvet for about 1 week and have been extremely careful with our baby! She also tested positive for Giardia (a common bacterial infection). Velvet received her first Parvo vaccine recently, and while it is rare, there is a chance her test results were a false positive. She has yet to show Parvo symptoms other than vomiting, but is currently at the Emergency Pet Hospital in Glendora receiving treatment for Parvo. With treatment, survival rate is around 80%. Our family loves this little girl so much and we are so hopeful she will pull through!
This is a difficult time in the world for everyone. If you can donate anything for Velvet’s emergency vet expenses, we would appreciate it so much.
Love and peace,
Reagan, Steph, Shane and Velvet
