Thank you for coming to our page. We are urgently trying to raise money for my cousin, Vali.
Since Vali and I are both only children, we have always been more like brother and sister. He is 4 years younger and about 10 years more mature than me. He is also one of the kindest, most honest, and warmest souls to ever be.
Vali started feeling unwell around Christmas. They thought it was just a cold. Over the counter medications and antibiotics didn't work and the cold refused to get better.
Yesterday (Jan. 22nd), we learned that Vali has a very very aggressive form of lymphoma - it is actually the fastest form of cancer known to the medical community. With treatment (aggressive chemotherapy), Vali has great survival chances - in the range of 90%! Without it, he will likely die in a few weeks.
Unfortunately, the treatment is not available in Romania where he lives. He is currently in Austria trying to get admitted to a hospital. His Romanian insurance is of little use and the treatment is extremely expensive so he is getting turned away from hospital doors. How can this be possible? A life can be saved, but there isn't enough money. . . .
We are trying to raise enough money for a down-payment to get him in the hospital door. Hopefully, he will have an opportunity to spend the rest of a long and productive life paying for the remainder. Right now, we need him to start treatment ASAP.
This morning, as I was talking to Vali, I heard his little boy, three year old Serban ask, "Is daddy dying?"
It was heartbreaking. I hope that with the response of this community we can help tell his son a firm "NO."
Vali can absolutely fight this - his chances are great but only if we can get your help. Please - anything, anything at all . . . $1, $5, $20. . . $1000... Whatever fits within your budget and whatever you are compelled to can make a big difference.
We know Vali is a complete stranger to most of you and he lives in a distant country. But he's real, his family is suffering, and we want to give him a fighting chance.
