Alec was diagnosed with stage IV upper gastrointestinal cancer in June 2022. The initial prognosis was grim but over the last 9 months his condition has become more stable.
Currently his goal is to raise money for a treatment known as "Enhertu". This medication costs $11,000 per dose and is not covered by his private health cover or the public healthcare system in Australia.
At the time of writing Alec has undergone 19 rounds of Chemo, 15 Immunotherapy treatments and 20 Herceptin treatments (another medication which targets the specific cancer type).
During this time both he and his partner & caregiver Szabina have been unable to work and have had little assistance caring for their now 16 month old daughter Valentina.
While his team of specialists and medical appointments are fortunately covered by health insurance, the cost of some necessary medications, nutrition, and integrative therapies are not.
Above all Alec wants to ensure his daughter Valentina doesn't have to grow up without a daddy.
